Dyson Farming

Beef

Our Beef cattle are cared for on our farm to the highest animal welfare standards, and housed in state-of-the-art open barn facilities. Every animal can be traced to its parentage and place of birth – and produce healthy, delicious and sustainably reared meat. Our Beef cattle eat a mixture of dedicated forage crops, and tasty extras such as wheat and barley that we grow on our own farm. We also use the latest technology to generate a digital footprint for every animal.

We have constructed bespoke handling systems to reduce stress on our animals and increase the safety of our people to enable us to more easily monitor and tend to the health and welfare of our livestock.

The welfare of our animals is of course the highest priority. While we are proud to be a part of various assurance schemes we strive to exceed the standards.

We use the latest technology within our livestock systems such as EID tagging and apps that communicate information about individual animals to our network thus connecting remote locations to our central hub.

Accreditations

In the UK, assurance schemes help to provide both consumers and businesses with a guarantee that food has been produced to particular standards. These schemes are largely voluntary arrangements, however many food businesses require a specific accreditation when agreeing terms with their suppliers.

Dyson Farming currently participates in the assurance schemes detailed below. If you would like to work with us and do not see the scheme you require then please get in touch. We are confident that Dyson Farming standards will meet the requirements of any scheme, and in most cases exceed them.

Traceable, Safe and Farmed with Care

Red Tractor is a world leading farm and food assurance scheme that provides traceable, safe food. It’s an easy signpost for consumers looking for British food and drink that they can trust.

It is the largest food standards scheme in the UK, covering all aspects of production: animal welfare, food safety, traceability and environmental protection.

Red Tractor Assurance – Beef and Lamb Scheme

The scheme for beef and lamb covers the rearing of our cattle and sheep to ensure that all operations adhere to the highest standards of staff welfare; food safety; environmental protection; and good animal husbandry.

Red Tractor Assurance – Fresh Produce Scheme

The scheme for fresh produce covers the production of our peas and potatoes to ensure that all operations adhere to the highest standards of staff welfare; food safety; environmental protection; and good farming practice.

Red Tractor Assurance – Crops and Sugar Beet Scheme

The scheme for crops and sugar beet covers the production of our cereals, oilseed rape and sugar beet to ensure that all operations adhere to the highest standards of staff welfare; food safety; environmental protection; and good farming practice.

Linking Environment and Farming

The principles of Integrated Farm Management (IFM) underpin the requirements of the LEAF Marque certification, as set out in the LEAFMarque Standard. IFM is a whole farm business approach that delivers more sustainable farming. Modern technology and traditional methods are fused, with the goal of delivering prosperous farming that enriches the environment and engages local communities.

A farm business managed to IFM principles will demonstrate site-specific and continuous improvement across the whole operation including: Organisation and planning; soil management and fertility; crop health and protection, pollution control and by-product management, animal husbandry, energy efficiency, water management, landscape and nature conservation and community engagement.

TASCC was developed because farmers and end users wanted to be sure that crops of grain, oilseeds and pulses were treated responsibly once they left the farm. That includes wheat processed by flour millers and malting barley for the brewers and distillers in the drinks industry. It provides independent verification that the trade is meeting food safety laws and industry good practice.

TASCC Haulage

Compliance with the scheme’s code of practice for Haulage aims to combine food and feed safety legal requirements with recognised industry good practice and a specific customer requirement to provide confidence in the food and feed chain. The hygiene and safety of vehicles is of paramount importance.

TASCC Storage

Compliance with the scheme’s code of practice for storage aims to combine food and feed safety legal requirements with recognised industry good practice and a specific customer requirement to provide confidence in the food and feed chain.

The scheme requires that a rigorous HACCP plan be put in place to ensure all biological, chemical, and physical hazards are removed from the storage environment.
