Duties and responsibilities:

Our Oxfordshire farm consists of 1500ha of arable land implementing a CTF system using modern equipment. We are seeking an Assistant Farm Manager to coordinate the day-to-day operations of the farm, working closely with the Farm Manager.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of the day-to-day operations of a small team including all aspects of arable farming.
  • Proactively promote and maintain high standards of Health and Safety across the Farms, taking initiative to resolve and/or draw attention to areas that do not meet required standards.
  • Daily reporting to Farm Manager.
  • Managing and updating internal systems e.g., Gatekeeper, cattle-management systems, Blackcat (grain storage systems) and Epicor.
  • Keeping up-to-date accurate records.
  • Performing combining duties alongside relief spraying and drilling.
  • Servicing and maintenance of equipment within the workshop.
  • Any other ad-hoc duties within your capabilities.

This role is expected to be around 35% desk-based and 65% hands-on however this may vary dependent on the time of year.

Person specification:
  • 2 years experience working within a Foreman role.
  • Experience in using modern-day machinery, working with cattle and outside grazing.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • IT literate and experienced in using financial and farm management systems.
  • Hands-on with a can-do attitude
  • Proactive and flexible approach to work
  • Willing to take responsibility and ownership of tasks
  • Ability to work autonomously when required, alongside effective teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Hold a current UK driving licence
  • Hold PA1 and PA2 certificates
  • Hold a rough terrain telescopic certificate
