The Financial Accountant will support the growth of the company through day-to-day leadership of purchase-to-pay and order-to-cash processes, cash flow forecasting and continuous improvement in processes. This role is a critical position in allowing us to plan for and support innovative investment projects in food production and minimising environmental impacts. We are excited about growing the future of sustainable agriculture, great planning, processes and robust data will be key to our success.

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, with great technical finance understanding and analytical skills to help shape our business.

This role is based predominantly in our spacious, modern offices on the Nocton Estate, just 20 minutes from Lincoln and will be a part of our Finance team, with some travel to other business locations.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Ensure the integrity of internal and financial accounting data, looking to continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of financial accounting processes and the control environment.
  • Production of quarterly VAT returns and annual Corporation tax returns.
  • Support production of annual statutory accounts.
  • Responsible for cash flow forecasting and driving improvement in the cash conversion cycle.
  • Lead the development of environmental reporting in accordance with developing accounting standards.
  • Contribution to monthly management information packs, responsible for reporting and insight on cash flow, P2P and O2C.
  • Identifying areas of improvement & automation in financial processes and working across teams to deliver solutions to implement.
  • Develop best practices and ensure consistency and documentation in finance processes across all teams.
  • Support finance system upgrades, notably in system testing and engaging with business end users.
Person specification:
  • Fully qualified accountant either ACA, CIMA or ACCA, with a minimum of 3 years PQE.
  • A strong business partner with a high level of interpersonal skills who can interact with and earn the confidence and trust of a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience within an operational, cash-generating business.
  • Previous experience of responsibility in reporting and accounting for an entire legal entity.
  • Experience being a part of a team that has delivered business process improvement to achieve better business outcomes.
  • Up-to-date, working understanding of accounting principles and insightful financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills, including experience creating reports and giving presentations.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships across all teams within the business.
  • Experience in process mapping, and root cause analysis e.g. Lean Six Sigma.
  • Organised, driven, able to prioritise and meet tight deadlines with a strong ability to self-manage.
