We have an exciting opportunity for a 12 month Student Placement. The successful candidate should be dynamic, enthusiastic and hands on. The experience will allow you to acquire knowledge and experience that will underpin studies in the later stages of the course and attain the practical, interpersonal and business skills needed in the workplace. Working with our experienced Management Team you will develop an appreciation of our unique business and gain experiences on which to base future career plans. The role will require effective collaboration with the rest of the team to ensure the efficient running the Dyson Farming operation.

Duties and responsibilities:

After your initial rotation within the Farming team, you will have the opportunity to choose which areas of the business you would like to spend time in such as environmental, finance, technology, research, agronomy and renewable energy.

You will be assigned a Student Placement Mentor who will support you through your placement and ensure that the placement is tailored to your interests and course.

You will also be set a project based on a real life challenge that DFL are facing during your placement in order to enhance a range of skills including project management, communication and time management.

Person specification:
  • Studying towards an undergraduate qualification in an Agriculture, Business, Science or Technology related degree
  • Proactive attitude and commitment to health and safety
  • Excellent organisational skills and able to take the initiative
  • Computer literate including MS Office
  • Professional manner and confident communication skills, with the ability to interact with individuals from a range of backgrounds
  • Proactive and flexible approach to work
  • Willing to take responsibility and ownership for tasks
  • Keen to suggest improvements to current ways of working
  • Ability to work autonomously when required, whilst still possessing strong team work skills
  • Full driving licence
