Duties and responsibilities:
  • Define and lead on the energy strategy for DFL as part of the 5 year plan
  • Proactively promote and maintain high standards of Health and Safety across the business, taking initiative to resolve and/or draw attention to areas that do not meet required standards.
  • Lead and implement all energy projects across AD, Solar, heat, fuel and power to enhance business performance and carbon footprint.
  • Ultimate responsibility for the energy P&L and budgeting across the business.
  • Line management responsibility of the energy teams.
  • Manage and motivate the team by setting and communicating aims, objectives and priorities. Hold regular one-to-one meetings to provide feedback to direct reports.
  • Seek to identify areas for improvement and develop new initiatives to improve the performance of the business.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships across the wider business.
  • Responsibility for power purchasing and trading across the business.
  • Meeting and exceeding all required regulatory standards for the industry including statutory reporting.
  • Responsibility for researching and implementation of new technology in this area.
  • Preparing and presenting reports at board level to deliver the energy strategy.
  • Must be present on site 5 days per week.
Person specification:
  • 3 years experience in a similar energy lead role.
  • Up to date knowledge on government energy strategy and relevent laws
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Profient IT skills including MS Office and systems
  • Confident communication skills, with the ability to interact with individuals from a range of backgrounds
  • Proactive and flexible approach to work
  • Leads improvements and changes to current ways of working
  • Keen to suggest improvements to current ways of working
  • Ability to work autonomously when required, whilst still possessing strong teamwork skills
